Yes. Currently Postural Health & Development work with a number of clients who’s disabilities range from debilitating pain, to brain damage, to malformed / misaligned limbs. In one case with a brain injury a client who was told that they would never walk unaided has not only learned to walk but has regained significant pride and self-sufficiency as well as increased their short term memory and learning ability.
A number of young people ranging from age 11 to 19. Currently we have trained those with Asperger’s Syndrom, Autism, Dyslexia, and Pyschosis. We note that there has been significant success using a system of balancing exercises to stimulate increased cognitive function amongst Austisic and Asperger children in particular. Noted changes include increased social awareness and capacity to communicate, increased self-confidence and attention span, decreases in non-social combative behaviour, as well as increases in strength, coordination and dexterity.
Quite often the underlying cause for a number of adominal maladies is a shortened and / or dysfunctional abdominal wall. Usually caused by (but not limmited to) a seated lifestyle. Some simple exercises to gently relengthen and recoordinate these muscles more often than not resolves the symptoms.
